An accomplished flutist, LADY JEANNE GALWAY has performed as a soloist with the world's leading symphonies and orchestras including Chicago, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Seattle, Denver and National Symphony orchestras. She has performed for such illustrious dignitaries as the Earl and Countess of Wessex; the Duke and Duchess of Kent; the Queen of Norway; and the Empress of Japan. She has graced the stages of the world's cultural capitals, including appearances at The Vatican, Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace.
Lady Galway appears regularly as the premier Flute Duo Partner with her husband, SIR JAMES GALWAY. The two delight audiences and bring a rare freshness to the platform, unequaled in the music world. Highlights of the 2007/2008 season include U.S. performances with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra, and the RUSSIAN NATIONAL ORCHESTRA. This season will also find Lady Galway performing with the Osaka Philharmonic, the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, and embarking on a recital tour of Ireland, as well as on an orchestral tour of Switzerland with the INSO. She and Sir James will also lead Master Classes in Napa, California; Boca Raton, Florida; London, U.K.; and Weggis, Switzerland. LADY JEANNE GALWAY performed at the Festival of the Arts BOCA 2007 and will return with SIR JAMES GALWAY to the FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS BOCA 2008. She will also participate in the Festival's educational program.
Lady Galway is also a respected chamber musician and part of the acclaimed chamber music trio Zephyr, with pianist Jonathan Feldman and cellist Darrett Adkins. The group recently premiered a new work by Lowell Liebermann and released their first recording, Zephyr: Winds of Romance. Lady Galway continues to collaborate in recital with Phillip Moll and in an array of ensembles, including guitarist Christian Hoffstettler, soprano Yuko Takemichi and the New York-based Cassatt String Quartet.
Lady Galway can be heard performing with her husband Sir James, harpist Catrin Finch and the Sinfonia Varsovia on the new album My Magic Flute, a Mozart extravaganza, which was released by Deutsche Grammophon in September 2006.
She is renowned for her dedication to the development of young flutists. She is Vice President of Flutewise - www.flutewise.com - an educational organization for young flute players, and along with her husband, serves as a patron to the charity Future Talent headed by the Duchess of Kent. Lady Galway also writes many educational articles for young flutists. She plays a 24-carat gold Muramatsu flute.
